The Chungqing Airport is new and grand, necessarily so as Chungqing is the largest city in Eastern China, and is fast developing.
Our plane took off punctually at 8.30aqm,and the ETA at Pudong was before noon. The flight was smooth and uneventful, and just after 11am the announcement was made that we were then over Pudong.
At the Pudong Airport,we had to wait for our tour guide, who was supposed to wait for us.We waited for more than half an hour before this guy arrived. This tour guide 小翁,did not even say sorry, and did not seem to be ready to do his duty.We were naturally unhappy about his attitude, and Mr Ng actually reprimanded him.
The first item in our schedule was (alas!)城隍庙 again.I was sick of the place,of the crowd,of the same thingsdisplayed and to be offered for sale--.So,we decided to while away the time in 豫园,entrance fee 40yuan.
Aw and Ah Cheong etc followed. It started to drizzle,so we had to take shelter here and there, and spoiled our mood.
Then,小翁 took us to 同仁堂,another commercial promotion business. As usual MC fell prey, and swapped 1900元 for some dubious medecine.
After dinner at 傣家村,we proceeded to the newly completed 上海金融中心。By now,the drizzle had developed into a downpour. The gale twisted our umbrelas and we were soaked all over. While we had to queque for our entrance tickets, someone suggested we cancelled this visit, and back to our hotel to rest.Everyone agreed.
However we were turned away as 小翁had not done the booking thoroughly. We had to look for other hotels to lodge. We tried and tried. Finally we managed to find lodging for the night far,far away from the city.,at Pudong Gloria Plaza Hotel, quite near the airport.
